Our competition entry for the new elderly house in Saaremaa island in Estonia was focusing on creating a connection with the residents to the surrounding elements and nature.
The building public and interaction spaces are open to the courtyard to provide live views for athletes, outdoor walkers and occupants. The building is L-shaped and turned at an angle to the street, it creates a connection with the small town, creating an inviting area that connects with the church and neighbouring buildings. The building places great emphasis on healing architecture- it is important to reduce the stress level of the residents by creating spaces that are full of light and connected to nature.
